Our Story

Doughnuttery didn’t start as a franchise concept, it started as an idea to build a business for my family. In 2008 I left my job in finance because I wasn’t fulfilled and always dreamed of owning my own business. I spent a lot of time vetting small businesses opportunities. Several years passed and nothing seemed to gel for me. With my second child on the way I was running out of time to create the livelihood I knew I needed, not to mention the lifestyle I always dreamed of. It wasn’t just about covering my expenses, it was about creating financial independence, and the freedom and satisfaction that come with being an entrepreneur.

My wife’s family owned a bakery in NYC, William Greenberg Desserts, which was run as a family business – we all pitched in to help-out during the busy times. It was my first “taste” of the dessert business. I was hooked and it gave me the insight and knowledge to identify a SWEET opportunity in food: HOT FRESH UNIQUELY SUGARED MINI DOUGHNUTS!

We opened our first Doughnuttery in the iconic Chelsea Market where we saw our uniquely sugared mini doughnuts resonating with not only locals but tourists from all over the world. We quickly found out that every culture has their version of fried dough and Doughnuttery’s proprietary products and unique cooking methods created an instant emotional connection with everyone who tried it. We slowly and carefully expanded, perfecting the model and building and solidifying the brand.

It wasn’t long before the franchise interest started rolling in – over the years we’ve accumulated hundreds of inquiries and in 2017 we decided to quietly begin to offer our franchise to some of the qualified queries we received along the way.
